Chinekwu Obidoa, Ph.D. is a research associate and GIS analyst at the Institute for Community Research. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Health with a concentration in Social and Behavioral Health. Her research interests span across several disciples and include: contextual factors of HIV/AIDS risk, the ecologic factors that shape youth sexual risk behavior, global popular youth culture, the impact of globalization on disease and illness and spatial epidemiology. She is a mixed methods researcher combining qualitative, quantitative, and geographic analytic methods in research. She works as a data analyst for the IDU Peer Recruitment Dynamics and Network Structure in Respondent Drive Sampling (RDS) study and the Translation of the Risk Avoidance Partnership (RAP) for Drug Treatment Clinic Implementation study. Her current research at ICR focuses on the application of GIS in studying the spatial epidemiology of clubbing and drug use among youth in Hartford. She is also involved in the application of GIS in other studies at ICR.
