World AIDS Day Leadership Panels
Saturday, December 1, 2007, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Registration begins at 9 am.
Grassroots leaders in the fight against HIV/AIDS will gather from across Greater Hartford to discuss current HIV/AIDS issues. The sessions are free and open to the public; breakfast and lunch will be offered. Some topics include treatment options, funding for and access to services, and testing availability; female-controlled prevention methods, such as the female condom and microbicides; the impacts of homelessness and stigma on HIV risk among marginalized populations such as drug users and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth; and the role of the faith community to address issues and experiences of those infected and affected by the disease. Local organizations will also be on hand to discuss their work and HIV/AIDS resources. Hartford’s World AIDS Day will draw a broad audience to learn, discuss and act on serious issues affecting our community. Read more.
